When in Rome…be sure to visit Florence. With Florence and Rome being an hour and a half train ride from one another, it’s rather obvious to kill two birds with one stone (well if you have the time). Both Florence and Rome are rich with culture and history. From the Colosseum in Rome to the Piazza del Duomo in Florence, you’ll always have something to see and explore. Below you will find various restaurants I went to while visiting Florence.
Rigatoni con sugo di salsiccia e funghi procini
Ristorante Boccadama
Piazza di Santa Croce 25/26r

Gelato
I had quite a lot of gelato while in Italy. Vivoli was the best ice-cream parlor. If you ever have the chance to visit Vivoli, be sure to try the Stracciatella. As a mint chocolate chip lover myself, Stracciatella is a creamy milk-based ice cream with fine shavings of chocolate.

Hugo
A Hugo is an alcoholic beverage consisting of prosecco, elderflower syrup, seltzer/sparkling water, and mint leaves. It’s quite a refreshing drink served on the rocks. When you want something refreshing with a slight kick, an Aperol Spritz or Hugo should be your go to drink!
The Hugo pictured is from Ditta Artigianale Neri in Florence, Italy. I enjoyed a Hugo with a Pastrami Bagel.

Cinghiale in umido con patate al forno
Trattoria II Bargello
Borgo dei Greci 37

All the food/beverages I listed above were phenomenal. While visiting Florence, be sure to grab some Gelato at Vivoli. My friends and I had Gelato on the regular while exploring Italy and Vivoli was our favorite ice-cream parlor by far. Now that I am back in the states, I can never find ice cream, custard, and/or gelato that is remotely comparable to the gelato one will find Italy.
