It was in 1840 that Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, noticed she felt a 'sinking feeling' around min-afternoon. Once served with a pot of Darjeeling tea, some bread, butter and biscuits, she felt decidedly better. The afternoon tea was born.
The first time I ever had afternoon tea was on my 22nd birthday. The women of my family traveled from all over the U.S. to London for my graduation celebration, visiting London and Paris. While in London we had afternoon tea at the Corinthia London, an experience I’ll never forget.
Since it was my birthday, we chose the Rosé Champagne Afternoon Tea package. This package includes a glass of Laurent-Perrier Rosé Champagne. After enjoying your glass of champagne, you partake in a selection of finger sandwiches. Then, you enjoy a scones with a variety of jams. And finally, you indulge in a selection of “sweet delicacies inspired by the season”. These three groups are enjoyed while sipping tea, personally I chose English breakfast decaf.
